Lifeguard Rescue Equipment
A lifeguard needs to have rescue equipment. Most lifeguards will have a whistle and a megaphone as their main tools to use. However, when an emergency occurs, the lifeguard will need rescue cans, breathing equipment, ring buoys, breathing mask, pocket mask, and a board to lay on and a cervical collar, and a first aid kit. There are a lot more items that a lifeguard may need that isn't mentioned here.
The main point of a lifeguard is to pay enough attention that you can see when someone goes under. Time is critical. The lifeguard should be able to get someone out of the water quickly. If something terrible happens, a lifeguard should be able to restore breathing to the injured person. Onsite oxygen and masks can help a person breathe easier. For the safety of the lifeguard, a microshield to cover the face is recommended to be used. The idea is that the victim may have aids or something and you don't want to get that from mouth to mouth.
